Science : Germination

We learnt that a plant needs certain conditions to germinate (begin to
grow).
The seed needs
- water
- air
- warmth
When the conditions are right the seed casing cracks
A tiny root grows downward in the soil.
Next a tiny shoot grows upwards towards the light.
Then , once the shoot has broken the surface it grows leaves so that
photosynthesis can start.
Seeds don't need light to germinate because they have their own store
of food to help them to grow before photosynthesis can start.
