Science : Healthy Eating : food groups

Today we revised the different food groups, their function and gave
examples of the kinds of foods which could be included in each group
Carbs 1 : energy : bread potatoes, pasta, rice, cereals
Carbs 2 : energy : buns, biscuits, cakes, sweets
Protein : cell growth and repair : meat, fish, milk, eggs.
Fats : energy : milk, cheese, cooking oil, butter, red meat
Vitamins & mineral s: for healthy cells : fruit, vegetables and dairy
products
Fibre : helps move food through the gut : cereal, wholemeal bread,
fruit, vegetables
Water : to maintain hydration : drinks and some foods...
